I took a taxi to the Peak Tram, then rode it up the peak.  The driver and I started speaking Mandarin and discovered that we had both moved to Hongkong in the same  year – 1979.  He was thrilled. I was less so.

Cacophony inside and out

The Siberian Fur Store has always been one of my favorite signs. I need to go in that place sometime and see if it still exists.

Barker Road station

We used to live on this street when I was in Hongkong in 1993~4. When I see this lawn carved out of the jungle and steep mountainside, all i can think is how much it must have cost this guy.

Katherine's photo

In 2005 I took my kids on a trip around the world to visit some of the cities they had lived in. While walking down Chatham Path, Katherine took a beautiful photo at this little temple. I went back to try to find the location and recapture her photo. A different flower was there, but try as I might, I couldn’t replicate her wonderful photo…
